Job Summary: The Head Professional Tutor mentors tutors and collaborates with faculty to provide academic support to students in core subject areas. The tutor performs Writing Lab functions depending on qualifications, assists students in online and face-to-face tutoring sessions to increase their academic knowledge of subject area concepts, college technologies, and college skills, serves in an embedded support role for designated classes, and designs and implements learning intervention strategies for students. Supervisorial Responsibilities: No direct supervisory role. Mentors assigned tutors.

Physical Demands
Work is normally performed in a general office environment. Work performed requires sensitivity and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs. This position requires light physical activity and movement; employee must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone or during virtual meetings. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds with the use of proper equipment. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals on a case-by-case basis.

Required Qualifications
Master degree in English composition, or Master's in another discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in English composition. Experience in teaching or tutoring. Demonstrated good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to a diverse student population. Computer skills, especially in the areas of Microsoft Office, instructional software, learning management system, subject related technology, and online conferencing.

Preferred Qualifications
Community college experience. CRLA and/or ACTLA tutor certification.
