Head of Development

As the Head of Development, you are the driving force behind building and leading a premier engineering organization. Your role is pivotal in setting the technical vision that aligns with our business goals and market evolution. With a commitment to mentorship and fostering innovation, you will enhance engineering practices and ensure seamless integration of our technical initiatives across all departments. 

You will also play a key role in guiding the company's adoption and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), ensuring the development team evolves towards the technological landscape of 2026 and beyond. 

What you'll be doing: 

• Lead the engineering teams with a strategic vision that cohesively aligns with business objectives, promoting an environment geared towards achieving these goals.  
• Set the technical direction for the company, ensuring it resonates with our business plans and the current technological landscape. 
• Collaborate across departments, particularly with product management, design, and operations, to ensure technical initiatives are integrated smoothly and enhance the product ecosystem. 
• Jointly develop product roadmaps with product management, aiming for a unified vision and direction. 
• Proactively identify and resolve technical and process bottlenecks to maintain a streamlined workflow. 
• Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously evolve our product development processes. 
• Champion technical initiatives, ensuring they are represented within the product development roadmap. 
• Assess and introduce new technologies, tools, and frameworks to boost engineering capabilities and workflow efficiency. 
• Manage budgets, resources, and timelines diligently, optimizing team productivity and ensuring project deliverables meet set expectations. 
• Work in tandem with QA teams to implement effective testing strategies, thereby upholding the highest standards of quality. 
• Drive the adoption and responsible integration of AI across the development teams, identifying areas where AI can enhance productivity, code quality, and innovation. 
• Promote AI performance optimization, ensuring AI systems, agents, and tools operate efficiently and securely within our infrastructure. 
• Collaborate with QA leads to establish testing frameworks and quality assurance processes tailored to AI models and AI agents. 
• Champion automation within the QA team, leading initiatives to increase test coverage, speed, and reliability through intelligent automation. 
• Encourage the exploration and implementation of AI-driven development tools to support code generation, code review, and deployment pipelines. 
• Invest time in defining the vision and capabilities of the Development Team of 2026, anticipating shifts in technology, skills, and workflows required to stay ahead of the curve. 

Management & Leadership: 

• Ensure team efficiency and effectiveness, managing workloads for optimal speed without sacrificing quality. 
• Mentor team members to boost their hard and soft skills and professional growth, empowering them to excel.
• Manage team performance, aligning roles with skills and compensation effectively. 
• Set and regularly review clear team objectives, metrics, and goals, providing constructive feedback. 
• Oversee the team's budget, ensuring adherence to allocations and optimizing costs. 
• Promote an innovation mindset that embraces experimentation with AI tools, ensuring developers and QA specialists are continuously learning and applying AI-driven methodologies.
