Job Summary: Kishwaukee College's Academic Advisor will be responsible for educational advising for career and technical programs and working with college staff to provide services to improve the academic and developmental success of students utilizing a proactive advising model. Supervisorial Responsibilities: None
Physical Demands
Work is normally performed in a general office environment. Work performed requires sensitivity and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities and needs. This position requires light physical activity and movement; employee must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone or during virtual meetings. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds with the use of proper equipment. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals on a case-by-case basis.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Vocational Counseling, Workforce Development or related field completed. · Experience in higher education is preferred · Computer skills required, including word processing · Effective organizational and communication skills · Bilingual skills preferred · A collaborative style with commitment to serving students and initiative to solve problems · Teaching experience a plus · Experience working with transfer programs preferred · Master's Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field completed preferred.
