Job Description

Our client, a major chain supermarket operating in Malta, are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant, to ensure the day-to-day running of assigned areas (accounts, tax, finance) by managing a team of professionals. The chosen candidate will report directly to the Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing day-to-day accounting duties and ensuring the smooth running of the department.
  • Managing the month-end process leading to the submission of accurate monthly management accounts in a timely manner.
  • Assisting in end of year financial statements and annual audit.
  • Preparing reporting or other analysis on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and procedures and assisting in internal audits.
  • Managing cashflow, intercompany loans and reconciliations.
  • Coordinating payments.
  • Assisting in tax compliance and liaising with external tax consultants as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Fully qualified accounting professional or currently in the final stages of attaining an accounting qualification such as the ACCA.
  • Experience in a similar position is considered an asset.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Italian will be considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of SAP will be considered an asset.
