We are currently seeking to grow our Professional Tax team with an experienced candidate who is in possession of a Master in Accountancy, ACCA qualification or equivalent. Through this opportunity, you will build and help maintain relationships with our international personal clients as well as companies and their global workforces, while liaising with teams across the firm and the network according to the clients’ needs. How you will Make an Impact

As a member of the Personal Tax team, and reporting directly to the team leaders, you will be responsible for drafting tax and social security advisory and compliance engagements and proactively assisting clients in their day-to-day client requests, supporting individuals as they relocate locally, conduct research within the team on relevant tax topics and developments.

Your main tasks would include:

• Advising clients on a wide range of personal income tax schemes;
• Proactively assist in the day-to-day requests of a portfolio of clients reporting to Senior Managers and the Director leading the team;
• Liaising with the Malta Tax and Customs Administration to discuss client tax issues, and supporting team leaders in ensuring that client deliverables and project deadlines are met;
• Advise clients on issues relating to local tax laws, reporting requirements, statutory filings, and other relevant taxation matters;
• Review of tax compliance deliverables;
• Assist multinational companies address their global workforce income tax and immigration compliance needs locally;
• Review AML documentation and ensure compliance with local laws and internal requirements;
• Proactively build a relationship with clients;
• Supporting business development efforts including eminence-building initiatives, as well as pre-empting any potential business development initiatives;
• Reinforcing technical competence by keeping up-to-date on local and international personal income tax developments, trends and legislative changes, and applying this to client situations; and
• Utilize and assist in the application of Deloitte technological tools for the purposes of client delivery.

• Understand impact of fact pattern on tax situation and demonstrating basic familiarity with Income Tax Treaties (OECD) and the wording of standard relevant articles.

Your Specialized skills:

• You have at least 2 years’ experience within local industry - preference will be given to candidates with exposure to Personal Tax.
• You’re eager to continue building a career in local taxation, with a keen interest in Personal Tax;
• Be in possession of a Master in Accountancy, ACCA qualification or equivalent degree in Accountancy;
• In possession of the Malta Institute of Taxation Course on Taxation, or willingness to obtain qualification;
• Be able to work independently on their own initiative;
• Demonstrate a commitment to staying abreast of tax regulations and effectively communicating such updates to the team;
• Be able to work on cross-functional engagements with other service lines within the firm;
• Be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills, and willingness for growth.
