Join our Global Trade Solutions team and help international businesses move with confidence through trade finance, guarantees, receivables finance and structured trade solutions.
We’re looking for an experienced Trade Finance Specialist to manage our Core Trade desk and support the Guarantees Manager on complex transactions. With expertise across both areas, you’ll bring flexibility, technical judgement and energy to a role where no two days are the same.
Reporting to the Country Head of Global Trade Solutions, you’ll manage a skilled team while remaining hands-on—inputting, reviewing and approving transactions when needed. If you’re ready to combine specialist knowledge with people leadership and make a visible impact in a fast-paced environment, we’d like to hear from you.
In this role you will:
• Manage the Core Trade desk and provide cover for Guarantees, ensuring consistent service delivery within agreed SLAs.
• Input, review and approve documentary credits, collections and guarantees, acting as the escalation point for complex transactions.
• Support complex guarantee and bespoke wording reviews, including international and counter-guarantees, in line with URDG 758.
• Oversee trade-related SWIFT messaging, RMA key arrangements and correspondent banking matters, including confirmations, reimbursements and nostro arrangements.
• Ensure all transactions meet sanctions, financial crime, credit risk and internal control requirements.
• Coach and develop the team, promote cross-skilling across both desks, and improve procedures, processes and controls. You should apply if you have:
• Proven experience in both trade finance operations and bank guarantees, including hands-on document checking, transaction input and approval.
• Strong working knowledge of international trade finance rules UCP 600, ISBP, URC 522 and URDG 758.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating international guarantee wording with correspondent banks and beneficiaries.
• Practical knowledge of SWIFT trade messaging, RMA keys and correspondent banking arrangements.
• A keen eye for detail, sound judgement and the ability to work on your own initiative.
• Experience supervising or mentoring a team.
• A recognised trade finance qualification (CDCS, CSDG or similar) is an advantage. Even if you feel you do not meet 100% of our qualifications, we encourage you to apply, if you believe this role is right for you. What you’ll get in return: Not only is HSBC a great place to work, but we also offer the following unique and exciting opportunities and
benefits:
• We’ll help you progress your career, including access to development programmes, mentoring and coaching, as well as world-class training through HSBC University
• You can work your way and will have a say in when, where and how you and your team flexibly work together
• Our benefits will give you financial security, and can include our Employee Pension Plan contributions
• We’ll give you a huge range of resources that support your mental, physical and social well-being including free counselling sessions and an annual wellbeing expense claim
