Job Description

Our client is a family-owned business operating in the food manufacturing and retail sector. They are currently looking to recruit a Production Manager to join their team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and overseeing day-to-day bakery and food manufacturing operations.
  • Planning and managing production schedules to meet customer requirements and business targets.
  • Maximising the efficient use of labour, machinery, raw materials, and packaging.
  • Improving productivity, reducing waste, and enhancing overall operational performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, HACCP, GMP, quality, and health & safety standards.
  • Managing, coaching, and developing production supervisors and wider production teams.
  • Tracking and reporting on production KPIs, and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Working closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Maintenance, Quality, and Logistics teams to support seamless operations.
  • Leading continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Ensuring accurate production planning, inventory control, and reporting through ERP systems.
  • Supporting the COO in driving operational excellence across the bakery and food manufacturing business.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a bakery, food manufacturing, or FMCG production environment.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Production Management role.
  • Proven experience managing high-volume manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, GMP, and quality management systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics and/or SAP ERP systems, particularly in production planning, MRP, inventory management, and reporting.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • A degree or diploma in Food Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies would be highly desirable.
