About the Job
This role is responsible for the end-to-end development, maintenance, and harmonization of the institution’s Risk Policy Framework. This role serves as the central hub, collaborating with specialized risk units (Credit, Market, Liquidity, and Operational) to ensure all policies are cohesive, compliant with local regulations, and aligned with the Board’s Risk Appetite Statement (RAS).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the drafting, periodic review, and updates of the entire Risk Policy inventory. Ensure all documents reflect current market conditions and internal strategies.
- Partner with vertical Risk Heads to translate technical methodologies (e.g., scoring models, VaR limits, IFRS9 provisions) into formal, executable policy language.
- Act as the primary liaison for ensuring that all risk documentation meets the standards of local and international regulators (e.g., Basel III).
- Proactively identify regulatory or operational gaps within existing policies. Navigate the internal approval process, ensuring all policies are vetted by Legal and Compliance as necessary before reaching the Risk Committee.
- Oversee the implementation of new policies across the business. Ensure that Commercial and Operational teams understand their limits and responsibilities through clear communication and training.
- Synthesize complex policy changes into executive summaries for the Risk Committee and Board of Directors, highlighting impacts on the institution’s risk profile.
- Stay adjourned and adhere to the latest AML/CFT policies and procedures.
Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Law. Advanced certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA are highly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years in Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, or Internal Audit within the financial services sector.
- Deep understanding of the 3 Lines of Defence model and the regulatory landscape for small-to-mid-sized financial institutions.
- Practical exposure to risk concepts, policies, or controls within a regulated institution
- Good understanding of risk frameworks, governance expectations and regulatory guidance affecting risk (MFSA / EBA)
- Exceptional technical writing skills and the ability to negotiate and build consensus among diverse stakeholders (Business vs. Control functions).

- Welcoming and professional environment;
- Work with a proactive, forward looking Team;
- Professional growth;
- Internal/External Learning and Development opportunities.
- Attractive salary;
- Health, Life and Personal Accident insurance cover; and
- Pension plan.
