Fiber Optic Specialist

Manpower Malta is seeking to recruit a Fibre Optic Specialist to join our clients Network Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, resilience, and future growth of the national fibre backbone, combining hands-on fieldwork with technical leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and enhance the fibre backbone by driving capacity growth, resilience, and seamless operations.

• Lead both field and desk operations, including GIS updates, scheduling, splicing, and network testing.

• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues using advanced diagnostic tools such as OTDR.

• Plan and design scalable fibre optic networks in line with industry standards.

• Mentor and support fibre technicians, ensuring skill development and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years experience leading technical teams and managing on-site operations.

• Strong expertise in fibre optic systems, splicing, testing, and fault resolution.

• Familiarity with telecom industry standards (GPON, WDM, ITU) and hands-on Layer 1 & 2 experience.

• Ability to work under pressure and provide efficient solutions during outages or emergencies.

• Flexibility to work evenings or be on standby when required.
