						Position Summary:
The Facility Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of BMIT Technologies' office and data center facilities. This role ensures that all physical infrastructure, including power, cooling, and environmental systems, operates efficiently and reliably to support the company's technology and service delivery needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Operations and Maintenance:
- Oversee the daily operations of data centre facilities, ensuring all systems function optimally.
- Perform regular maintenance and inspections of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems to prevent failures and downtime.
- Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of facility infrastructure, including power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), diesel generators and cooling systems.
- Ensure that all facility systems are compliant with industry standards and local regulations.
- Work with external vendors and service providers to procure facility equipment and services.
- Assist with audits (ISO, SOC 2, etc.) and ensure compliance with local safety and operational standards.
- Plan, schedule and organise regular maintenance work and inspections by our suppliers of electrical, mechanical, HVAC systems, and office facilities to prevent failures and downtime.
- Work with the CTO to ensure that vendor agreements align with the company's technical and strategic objectives.
- Ensure 24x7 uptime of the facility's power and cooling systems.
- Enforce health & safety protocols and adhere to risk management procedures.
Monitoring and Incident Management:
- Use BMS (Building Management System) and Realtime Monitoring tools to monitor system performance and environmental conditions.
- Respond to alarms, diagnose issues, and implement timely corrective actions.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis reporting.
Capacity Planning:
- Collaborate with the CTO and other stakeholders to forecast facility capacity requirements based on projected growth and usage.
- Develop and implement strategies for facility scalability and resource allocation.
Sustainability:
- Implement sustainable practices in facility operations to minimize environmental impact.
- Monitor and report on energy consumption, waste management, and carbon footprint, striving for continuous improvement in environmental performance.
- Collaborate with third party companies and / or local authorities regarding our environmental impact.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- A degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
