About the Job
A leading entertainment company is currently seeking a Compliance Specialist to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in various jurisdictions, including Ontario, Canada. This role is crucial in maintaining a culture of compliance, mitigating risks, and upholding ethical practices within the gaming industry. The selected candidate will be responsible for assessing operational activities, developing compliance frameworks, implementing controls, and providing guidance to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements specific to the gaming sector.
What Your Role Will Look Like:
Compliance Framework Development: Develop and maintain a robust compliance framework tailored to the gaming industry, incorporating relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines specific to Ontario, Estonia, and other jurisdictions. This includes creating and updating policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned with provincial gaming compliance requirements.
Regulatory Knowledge and Monitoring: Stay updated on the ever-evolving gaming regulations, legislation, and licensing requirements. Monitor changes to provincial gaming laws, regulations, and industry standards and proactively implement necessary measures to ensure ongoing compliance.
Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments of operational processes to identify potential compliance risks. Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and recommend improvements to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with gaming regulations.
Compliance Auditing and Reporting: Develop and implement comprehensive compliance monitoring and auditing programs to assess the effectiveness of compliance controls. Conduct regular compliance audits, analyze findings, and prepare accurate and timely reports for internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and external auditors in accordance with regulations.
Training and Education: Develop and deliver compliance training programs specific to the gaming industry to educate employees on relevant compliance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Promote awareness and provide guidance on gaming compliance best practices to foster a culture of compliance.
Compliance Investigations: Lead and conduct investigations into potential compliance violations, incidents, or breaches. Collaborate with stakeholders, legal teams, and other departments to ensure proper resolution and implementation of corrective actions as per regulations.
Compliance Advisory: Provide expert advice and guidance on compliance matters to operational teams. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address compliance-related issues, develop solutions, and implement best practices specific to the gaming industry.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of compliance programs, controls, and processes. Identify opportunities for streamlining, automation, and improvement to optimize efficiency and reduce compliance risks in accordance with gaming requirements.
Requirements
- Certification in AML and/or GDPR.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a compliance-related role within the gaming industry, preferably with knowledge of Estonian, Ontario, or similar gaming regulations and requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of gaming laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop appropriate controls within the gaming context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Familiarity with compliance management systems and tools specific to the gaming industry.
- Professional certifications in gaming compliance, risk management, or relevant fields are desirable.
- Understanding of Responsible Gaming principles and best practices is beneficial.
