A leading professional services firm with a strong client-first approach is seeking an Assistant Manager to join their Finance team. The ideal candidate will have solid analytical abilities, a strong grasp of accounting principles, and hands-on experience in tax compliance and financial reporting.

This is an office-based role offering a salary of up to €50K, depending on experience.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Analyse financial data and prepare detailed reports to support strategic and operational decisions
  • Deliver accurate management accounts with clear and insightful information for clients
  • Ensure financial statements comply with all relevant accounting and regulatory standards
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and oversee daily finance operations
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with income tax calculations and filings
  • Manage internal accounting workflows and ensure compliance with audit requirements
  • Coordinate and compile documentation for both internal and external audits
  • Oversee and mentor junior team members, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls and accounting procedures

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Master's degree in Accounting or ACCA qualification (or in the final stages of completion)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role within the Maltese market
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
  • Strong working knowledge of Maltese accounting standards, VAT, and tax regulations
  • Proficiency in accounting systems such as Xero, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and a proactive approach to solving problems
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple clients effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a client-focused mindset
  • A valid Maltese driver's licence is a plus
