The Job
We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Laundry Clerk to join our laundrette team. The Laundry Clerk will be responsible for ensuring all laundry operations run smoothly, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role involves assisting customers, handling garments, operating laundry equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. The ideal candidate will be organised, friendly, and able to work well in a fast-paced setting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Greeting and assisting customers in a professional and friendly manner
- Receiving, sorting, and tagging laundry items accurately
- Operating washers, dryers, and pressing equipment safely
- Monitoring machines and reporting any faults or maintenance needs
- Ensuring garments are cleaned, folded, and packaged correctly
- Managing payments, receipts, and basic cash handling
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the laundrette
- Assisting with stock management (detergents, bags, etc.)
- Providing excellent customer service and resolving basic customer issues
Job requirements:
Essential:
- Previous experience in a laundrette, dry-cleaning, or similar environment is preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- Basic numeracy skills for handling payments
- Ability to lift and carry laundry bags and operate equipment safely
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including weekends
Desirable:
- Knowledge of laundry chemicals and fabric care
- Experience using point-of-sale systems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Basic problem-solving skills
