A boutique advisory firm, based in the heart of the capital of Malta, requires a Compliance Officer & MLRO to join their close-knit, highly successful team. You will be working on a varied project load and will be expected to share your knowledge and expertise with their wide range of clients.

In addition to amazing employment terms, this role offers up to €75K basic + commission and bonus 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Act as the appointed Compliance Officer and/or MLRO for a wide portfolio of clients, across a wide range of different regulated sectors (i.e. EMIs, PSPs and CASPs)
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the clients regulatory and AML/CFT compliance frameworks
  • Make sure that clients are in line with the MFSA and FIAU's requirements
  • Conduct risk assessments, reviews, audits, and gap analyses across client operations
  • Provide strategic compliance advice and support on an ongoing basis as well as during regulatory inspections
  • Deliver staff training, prepare reports for Boards and regulators, and assist with regulatory filings

Skills & Experience

  • Must come from a solid regulatory compliance and AML/CFT background
  • Candidates from a FI, EMI, or VASP/CASP background will have an advantage
  • In-depth knowledge of AML/CFT frameworks and related EU regulations
  • Currently PQ'd or have been PQ'd by the MFSA in the past would be an asset
  • Previous experience as an MLRO or deputy MLRO would be considered beneficial
  • Familiarity with supervisory expectations and licensing frameworks
  • Recognised professional certifications will be an asset
