A well-established corporate service provider, supporting a wide range of industries, is seeking a Senior Accountant / Team Lead to join their growing team. In this role, you will take ownership of a client portfolio, oversee management accounts, and lead a team of junior accountants, ensuring the delivery of high-quality accounting services while meeting statutory deadlines.

This is a hybrid role offering a salary of up to €XXK, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonuses.

Role & Responsibilities

Client Accounting & Compliance:

  • Own a portfolio of clients, preparing management accounts and managing the annual audit process by providing auditors with the required information
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns for your portfolio, and review financial statements and VAT returns prepared by junior team members
  • Liaise with management on client accounting requirements and related matters
  • Ensure all tasks within your portfolio, as well as those of junior team members, are completed in compliance with statutory requirements and client deadlines
  • Participate in ongoing compliance monitoring undertaken by the accountancy department
  • Attend client meetings for your portfolio, as well as meetings involving junior team members and their clients

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Mentor and lead junior team members, reviewing their accounts, assisting with daily tasks, and monitoring their progress through catch-up meetings
  • Promote internal procedures and best practices, identify areas for improvement, and manage training sessions for the team
  • Ensure that all junior team members meet deadlines and maintain the quality of work

Internal Collaboration & Communication:

  • Assist management and team leaders in writing articles for publication on the company website
  • Identify and report general accounting issues to management

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Fully qualified Accountant in Malta – non-negotiable
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a client accounting environment
  • Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and training a team
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, and SAGEConfident in explaining technical accounting and VAT matters to clients.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Responsible, ethical, and capable of handling sensitive information
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to prioritise and multitask effectively
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Willingness to learn and support clients across various sectors
  • Team-oriented with a proactive and problem-solving mindset

About the Role

  • Salary: €XXK – €XXK + performance bonus
  • Work Setup: Hybrid with flexible hours
  • Working Hours:
    • Monday to Thursday: standard office hours
    • Friday: Office closes at 14:00
