We're looking for a Certified Accounting Bookkeeper to take ownership of our day-to-day financial operations and help lay the foundations for a well-organised, efficient finance setup. This is a hands-on role for someone who values accuracy, organisation and process, and enjoys keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes of a fast-moving tech company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting operations, ensuring all financial records are accurate and up to date.
  • Handle general bookkeeping including invoices, payments, journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Prepare and file VAT returns, FSS submissions, and other statutory reports.
  • Support the preparation of management accounts, cash flow statements, and other internal reports.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for banks, suppliers, and customers.
  • Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and financial reporting for management.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
  • Liaise with external auditors, accountants, and tax advisors as needed.
  • Help identify process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the finance function.

Requirements

  • In possession of a recognized bookkeeping or accounting certification (such as ACCA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally in Malta.
  • Good understanding of Maltese VAT, FSS, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and familiar with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, or similar).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills in English (Maltese is considered an asset).
