Job Description:

The primary objective of this role is to lead the conceptualization, design, development, and implementation of project designs across various scales. You will provide continuity and leadership throughout the design development lifecycle, from the initial concept through to project completion. This includes coordinating with team members to refine design concepts during schematic design and design development phases, ensuring professionalism, sound judgment, and knowledge-sharing within the team. A strong focus will also be placed on team building, motivation, and continuous support for team members.
Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading the creation, development, and implementation of project design concepts, master planning, and architectural design.
  • Developing project briefs, feasibility studies, and detailed design reports.
  • Establishing and maintaining productive, long-term client relationships.
  • Ensuring designs comply with all relevant statutory requirements and codes.
  • Ensuring design alignment with contractual agreements and client expectations.
  • Implementing processes to reduce risks and exposure throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Managing the design process from initial concept through design development and completion, including detailing and supervision.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback to team members to enhance performance.
  • Managing design staff effectively to ensure the optimal utilization of resources, ensuring that project needs are met.
Requirements
  • A recognized degree in Architecture with a proven track record in designing a variety of architectural projects, including residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors. A specialization in design, an architecture license, and international work experience are preferred.
  • A chartership with a recognized institution will be considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to lead design teams, manage consultants, and maintain strong client relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, and best practices in the construction industry in Malta.
  • A solid understanding of local Planning Authority policies.
  • Proficiency in sketching, project coordination, and presentation with strong skills in design and presentation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lumion, etc.). Experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to anticipate project needs and manage multiple priorities while consistently achieving high standards and goals.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Thorough attention to detail with the ability to review others work and coordinate multiple detailed pieces of information.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in motivating and inspiring teams.
  • A motivated team player with a strong, positive work ethic.
  • A valid driving license will be considered an asset.
