Systems Engineer

We are growing, and we are now looking for a Systems Engineer to build, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

We are exploring ways to grow our team and in taking ownership of this role, your main areas of responsibility will be:

• Managing and monitoring systems, both software and hardware.
• Configure and manage network equipment including IPSEC tunnels.
• Ensure the highest levels of system availability.
• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks.
• Work with the Quality Assurance and Development teams on bugs and continuous optimisation of systems.
• Maintain constant backups of mission-critical systems.
• Provide second-level support to our Customer Service team and be part of a periodic "on-call" roster for out of office hours support.
• Liaise with service providers and external partners for problems related to hardware.
• 24x7 proactive monitoring and support of the live and pre-production environments.
• Any other tasks or projects assigned as required from time to time.

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science.
• Working experience with UNIX/LINUX systems.
• Experience working with Apache, Nginx, HAProxy and RabbitMQ.
• Experience with virtualisation and containerization including VMWare, Proxmox and Docker.
• Experience with monitoring systems such as Zabbix and Graphana.
• Experience administering, tuning, installing and backing up/restoring MySQL/Percona databases.
• Experience writing Bash or Python scripts.
• Solid networking experience preferably with Juniper and Cisco, including configuration of firewalls, routers, switches in high availability (HA) environments and VPNs.
• Ability to work within a team as well as on own initiative.
• Ability to research new and current technologies.
• Experience or knowledge working with SMPP and/or SS7.
