Fondazzjoni Sebħ, a Maltese organization, seeks a Social Worker to join their Community Prevention Team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will provide evidence-based social work support services to children and families, promoting positive and safe relationships within the family.
The role requires building partnerships with existing services to complement service provision, focusing on prevention and safeguarding the well-being of children, vulnerable individuals, and families. The appointee will provide high-quality services supporting the needs of families within the community, working in collaboration with other services, stakeholders, and community organizations.
The Social Worker will be responsible for:
- Reaching out to local families at risk of abuse, poverty, and social exclusion, providing support through social work interventions and community-based initiatives.
- Conducting professional assessments to identify specific needs of children and families.
- Developing care plans in partnership with service users, applying a strengths-based approach.
- Managing care plans, implementing them with other professionals, and involving service users.
- Applying evidence-based tools to achieve desired outcomes.
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with service users and families.
- Promoting positive and safe relationships within the family.
- Conducting home visits as necessary.
- Working in partnership with other professionals, attending meetings, and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with other agencies, organizations, and individuals.
- Collaborating with team members to reach out to families in need of support and strengthen support available to vulnerable families.
- Facilitating participatory initiatives promoting the well-being of children and families within their community.
- Liaising with other services providing support networks to service users.
- Working with stakeholders to build a safer and supportive community for families.
In relation to the Prevention Team:
- Maintaining a positive working relationship with Senior Management, Team Manager, other team members, volunteers, and students on placements.
- Participating in staff meetings, support groups, away days, and other meetings as required.
- Participating in administrative work, particularly related to the service.
- Keeping up-to-date in the field and attending training courses, seminars, and conferences as necessary.
- Attending regular supervision with the Team Manager or other appointed person.
Policy and Practice:
- Participating in the review of service policies and recommending changes to the Team Manager.
- Keeping records of all interventions with service users.
- Keeping records in a safe and confidential manner.
- Assisting the Team Manager in producing management reports for Fondazzjoni Sebħ's Boards.
- Preparing ad hoc reports as requested by the respective Manager.
- Representing the organization at external events and development fora when required.
- Participating in fundraising activities as required.
- Meeting legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Completing other necessary duties as requested by the Senior Management Team.
- Ensuring the values of Fondazzjoni Sebħ and the Archdiocese of Malta are upheld.
- Carrying out duties in accordance with Fondazzjoni Sebħ principles, policies, and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified and warranted social worker, or
- Qualified individuals working towards obtaining a warrant, or
- Students in their final year of social work training, encouraged to apply.
