Our client is seeking to recruit a Legal Counsel with a specializing in data protection which is the organization's main area of specialization. The selected candidate will be forming part of the legal team and have the following responsibilities:
Providing legal advice on personal data breaches and other technical matters
Responding to written and telephone queries related to the interpretation of laws and handling requests for assistance by data subjects on how to exercise their rights under the GDPR
Providing accurate and timely counsel on data protection issues
Representing the organization by attending and contributing in expert groups both locally and internationally
Cooperating with other local, European and international regulators and authorities
Collaborating and exchanging information with supervisory authorities of other countries and participating in joint programs, meetings and conferences, both locally and abroad
Representing the organization in judicial proceedings before the tribunal, the Courts of Appeal and any civil, criminal or other case as may be required
Delivering lectures and presentations on related laws
Proposing innovations and improvements to the current practices and systems in order to enable the organization to achieve better and more effective results in its operations
Monitoring developments in the data protection field including researching national and European laws whilst analyzing the impact this might have on the organization
Requirements Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in a similar role Hold excellent verbal and written skills in English and MalteseAbility to work under pressure and manage sensitive informationAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamMeticulous with a key eye for detailPossess excellent intrapersonal skillsHighly proficient in Microsoft Office toolsEducation and ExperienceHold a Degree in Law or a related qualification from a competent authority
